SF: Sarkozy must respect Ireland's No vote 20/07/2008 - 15:53:03
On the eve of French President Nicolas Sarkozy's visit to Ireland, Sinn Féin is calling for a commitment from the Government that there will not be another referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
Fifteen individuals from the Yes and No campaigns have been invited to attend a one-hour meeting at the French Embassy.
Labour's Eamon Gilmore refused the invitation and Fine Gael's Enda Kenny also refused to commit to the event.
Sinn Féin Lisbon campaign director Padraig MacLochlainn says they will be sending a strong message to Nicolas Sarkozy and says the French president must respect the Irish No vote in the treaty.
