Ganley: All citizens should have vote on EU constitution 18/11/2008 - 11:48:09
The head of Libertas has told TDs and Senators that any proposed European Constitution should be put to a vote in every EU member state.
Declan Ganley was speaking this morning during an appearance before the Oireachtas committee examining the fallout from Ireland's rejection of the treaty last June.
He told the committee that the EU needed a constitution or a fundamental treaty establishing its basic principles, but the document should be no longer than 25 pages.
He also said the document should be "upfront and honest in what it sets out to achieve", with every single EU citizen having a vote on the matter.
