Ruby cites Hurricane Fly as Cheltenham top tip

CHAMPION jockey Ruby Walsh has encouraged Irish racing fans not to lose faith in Hurricane Fly at this year's Cheltenham festival.

In an exclusive interview today with the Irish Examiner's racing correspondent, Pat Keane, the in form Irish jockey encouraged punters not to be put off by last year's disappointing performance.

As the countdown for this year's annual invasion of Cheltenham intensifies among Irish punters, Ruby cited the Hurricane as one of his clear cut top Cheltenham tips.

He suggested the horse was very close to the form that saw him collect the Champion Hurdle two years ago and described the Irish favourite as "rock solid" and in "great form".

"This year's slower, longer build up has left him in great form."

The full interview with Ruby Walsh and his comprehensive assessment of the Irish hopefuls travelling to Prestbury Park will be covered in tomorrow's Irish Examiner.

Don't forget you can also read Ruby's column and top tips every week, first and only in Saturday's Irish Examiner - part of our Saturday bumper sport and weekend package.
