Johnny Lynch looks good for openers
The Holy Roman Emperor colt caught the eye on his debut at Leopardstown in June and has been given plenty of time to mature.
At Leopardstown, he finished fifth of eight behind Einsteins Folly, tiring a little from the furlong pole in a contest that has been working out quite nicely.
The selection seemed to handle the heavy ground reasonably well, a major plus, and this is not the most exacting of tests.
Feature event is the valuable Listowel Races Supporters’ Club Lartigue Hurdle and, in a typically wide-open renewal, the nod falls on Tony Martin’s Mulleady.
She is on the upgrade, taking a modest maiden at Ballinrobe, prior to running a cracker on the flat at Wexford.
Mulleady was beaten two lengths into second place by Hartside, who was in receipt of 12lbs.
That effort was put in perspective when Hartside went on to win again next time, at Ballinrobe, off a mark 11lbs higher.
Jimmy Coogan’s Theyturnedmedown could crop up in the Brandon Hotel Handicap over six and a half furlongs.
He performed creditably enough over five furlongs at the Curragh on Saturday, fifth to Cape Of Approval, and this trip will be far more suitable.
Jimmy Mangan’s Truckin All Night, beaten by the impressive Magic Spear at Killarney, gets the vote in the Captain Christy Maiden Hurdle.
