Libya’s Election Commission is recounting votes from parts of the eastern city of Benghazi and tallying ballots from abroad a week after citizens went to the polls to elect a parliament.
It said it is also reviewing appeals lodged by candidates following the release of partial results over the past week.
The commission’s statement comes in response to expectations that it would release the final results from Libya’s first free nationwide vote since the ousting of long-time dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
