Pupils’ pleas helped bring Corbett back

A letter written by pupils in St Mary’s NS, Irishtown, Clonmel influenced Tipp star Lar Corbett to return to county colours.

The class, taught by Premier captain Paul Curran, begged their teacher in early February to persuade the attacker to come back and the defender revealed that was one of several letters sent to Corbett which had a major impact on the Thurles Sarsfields player.

“They wrote a letter when he decided to opt out,” Curran said.
