No date yet as Brangelina set to tie the knot
Pitt’s manager Cynthia Pett-Dante said that there wasn’t a wedding date “at this time.” She also said that the engagement “is a promise for the future”.
Pitt and Jolie have three adopted children and three biological children.
Pett-Dante said that “their kids are very happy”.
Jolie’s personal jeweller — who helped Pitt create the engagement ring — revealed that Pitt spent a year designing the piece.
A spokeswoman for diamond expert Robert Procop, who has worked with the Hollywood star for over a decade, said the ring was a specially selected diamond, mounted among several smaller ones and was first privately unveiled yesterday.
She said: “Working closely with Brad Pitt to realise the star’s vision for the ring, Robert Procop was able to source a diamond of the finest quality which was then transformed using Pitt’s unique designs, cut with distinctive faceting to a shape and size that perfectly suits Angelina’s long, slender fingers.
“Throughout, Brad Pitt remained heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design process from the perfect cut of the diamond centrepiece — an elongated tablet shape — to the finishing touches such as the mounting of a galaxy of smaller stones which are graduated in size and faceted to match, adding a crowning lustre to the ring.
Pitt and Jolie have been partners since they began a relationship while working on the film Mr & Mrs Smith.
Jolie was briefly married to Billy Bob Thornton and British actor Jonny Lee Miller.
Pitt was previously married to Jennifer Aniston.
