Teen takes sting out of whip controversy

Matthew Cullen from Castleconnor has developed a computer programme inside a whip which will tell jockeys when they have reached their whip quota via an earpiece. He has already received a provisional patent for the design and hopes to introduce it to the British Horseracing Authority later this year.

“I want to get it introduced to horse racing and, hopefully, down the line it will become mandatory.”
