Disputes lead to loss of 2,801 working days

Almost 3,000 working days were lost in the second quarter of this year due to industrial disputes.

Three disputes began in this period and a total of 2,801 days were lost, the Central Statistics Office revealed. However, this was a massive improvement on last year when 29,196 days were lost in the same quarter.

Six disputes began or were in progress in the first half of the year involving six firms and a total of 5,370 days were lost.

During the six-month period the manufacturing sector accounted for almost 45% of the total days lost.
