Text messaging could be way to win quarter-final tickets
Munster clubs have been given
priority in terms of distribution of
the 4000 tickets made available
by Leicester but the general
public will be accommodated also.
The branch are inviting supporters to apply to purchase tickets by
submitting applications through a
mobile phone text messaging system.
Applicants are being asked to answer a question to comply with Games & Lotteries legislation submit their name and where they would pick
up their tickets Thomond Park or Musgrave Park in the event of them being a successful entrant.
People may submit as many entries as they like but they will only be able to win the right to one pair of tickets.
The process begins today at 1pm and closes 4 pm on Monday.
The Premium Rate number is 57111 and calls will be charged at 1.00.
Once all the names have been
submitted, the draw to select the 375 (two per applicant) winners will be made by Munster Branch president Gerry Quaid, under the supervision of an independent auditor.
Successful applicants will be notified by text message and asked to provide identification when they arrive to
purchase their tickets. Commenting on the system, Munster Branch President Mr Quaid said: "We are acutely aware that the amount of tickets that we have available for our supporters goes nowhere near being adequate.
"However, we had absolutely
no control over the amount we
received and we have endeavoured
to distribute our allocation in as fair and equitable a manner as possible."
Explaining this novel system of
ticket allocation, Quaid continued: "After discussion among ourselves, with the Garda Síochaná, and different organisations who are well-versed in ticket distribution, we came to the
conclusion that the method we have put in place gives people the fairest opportunity of purchasing tickets.
"This proposal was put to and
subsequently sanctioned by the
Munster Branch."
