Good value at Silversprings

Saturday, December 05, 2009

A THREE-BEDROOM city bungalow is on offer in Cork’s Silversprings area for a manageable €210,000 – about the price of an apartment.

The semi-detached status of the 1,000 sq ft home helps keep its price in the affordable category, and it is set just off the north ring road. Likely buying segments could be traders down, or first-time buyers.

Auctioneer Michael O’Donovan of Sherry FitzGerald is selling 16, Silvercourt in Silversprings, a short bit up the road from the Fitzpatrick family’s hotel, and he points out that it has new wood-effect PVC windows, fascias and soffits, and also has gas heating.

The bungalow is on a sloped site, with a southerly aspect, and has an inclined drive for off-street parking, front garden, and side access to the back gardens. Internally, there’s a hall, lounge, family room cum dining room, kitchen, and three bedrooms plus bathroom.

Also on Cork’s northside – but this time within a walk of the city centre – and in the same price bracket is No 20, Mount Vernon Terrace, above St Luke’s Cross at the top of Military Hill by the Barracks.

The three-bedroomed mid-terrace home has a bay window in its front 16’ by 11’ living room, and both this and the rear dining room have fireplaces (gas insert in the front room).

The kitchen, pretty much like the rest of the house, has been smartly reworked and upgraded, and comes with a full range of appliances. Higher than average ceilings characterise the two double bedrooms overhead, there’s also a third single bedrooms, plus bathroom with bath.

Agent Gerard O’Dea of Downing Commercial seeks offers of about €200,000 for the easy-keep terraced property, with double glazing, gas hearing, railed in front garden and rear yard.
