Simpler and safer

WITH the changeover from miles per hour to kilometres per hour (KPH) next year serious consideration should be given to a maximum speed of two upper limits - 55KPH and 110KPH.

This would simplify the present system whereby road users are confronted with various speed limits. A coloured road marking could be used for 200 metres on the approach to the 55KPH zone.

There should be greater emphasis also on advance warning signs by making them larger as they are at least as important as speed limit signs.
