Tyrone blow as keeper Devine injured

Monday, July 27, 2009

ALL-IRELAND champions Tyrone look set to be without goalkeeper John Devine for the remainder of this year’s championship after the Errigal Ciarán player dislocated his shoulder in training yesterday.

Devine will miss next weekend’s quarter-final tie against Kildare, which presents Mickey Harte with a selection dilemma as Pascal McConnell and Johnny Curran will both be vying to take up the goalkeeping position.

Harte revealed last night that Devine is likely to be out of action for another two months after he suffered the injury, which means that he is likely to miss the remainder of the championship.

"He was stretching for a ball in stopping a shot when the injury occurred. It’s very disappointing and we hope that he recovers as quickly as possible," he said.
