Name and shame callous puppy farmers

MALNOURISHED, mange-ridden and ulcerated — I refer to Neans McSweeney’s report on puppy farming cruelty (Irish Examiner, February 7).

What stands out with this report is the absence and exclusion of the mention of the perpetrators. These callous, greedy people that are capable of such torture to defenceless animals should be named and shamed, alongside income tax evaders and criminal extortionists.

Once again, it appears the gardaí have one hand tied behind their backs with outdated, draconian laws when it comes to animal welfare. We need fast and furious legislation to conduct a zero-tolerance approach to animal cruelty.
