Dyer overcomes shin problem for Boro clash
The 23-year-old England star has been complaining of soreness in the shin in which he has previously suffered stress fractures for two weeks, but latest tests have revealed there is no lasting damage.
United sent him for further examinations yesterday in a bid to ease his fears that there was a major problem, and the results have come as good news for Bobby Robson's men, who will make the short trip to the Riverside Stadium tonight with one of their most influential performers.
He has been in fine form in recent weeks as Newcastle have put together a nine-game unbeaten run to propel themselves into the race for the Premiership title and give themselves a chance of making the Champions League quarter-finals.
Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren knows well how difficult it will be to beat Bobby Robson's men.
"I'm sure if Arsenal slip up, Newcastle will be there or thereabouts and ready to cash in," said McClaren.
"Man United have a good team, are second in the league and doing well in Europe but they will have to win every game to achieve their aspirations."
