Elan main mover in buoyant market

THE ISEQ continued to gain momentum advancing 11.27 points to close at 5635.19 yesterday.

The financials ended the day in good stead with AIB up 10c to €13.81, Anglo Irish and Irish Life and Permanent were both stronger, firming 24c and 13c respectively. Bank of Ireland gave up 5c to close at €10.69.

Construction stocks also nudged ahead with CRH rising 8c to €18.80 and Kingspan up 24c to €6.20.

Elan powered ahead 44c to lead the day's gainers. Another mover on the day was low cost airline Ryanair, which saw more than 7 million shares change hands, and edged ahead 10c to close at €3.82. Eircom added 2c to €1.58, while Kerry slipped 2c to €17.45.
