Beaten man dumped on road
The 40-year-old man was badly beaten and then dumped a few miles outside Monaghan town.
He was discovered at Raconnell at about 10.30pm on Sunday. He man was treated in Cavan General Hospital overnight and released yesterday evening.
Gardaí believe he may have been abducted in Belfast. He was beaten up elsewhere before being dumped.
Gardaí spoke to the man prior to his release from hospital.
They are in contact with the PSNI, who are investigating the abduction.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with an assault in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, early on Saturday morning. He was being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The 27-year-old victim remains critical at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital.
Meantime, four people appeared in Dublin District Court yesterday in connection with seizures of cannabis and cocaine.
