US soldier killed in Iraqi rocket attack

US TROOPS again came under fire near Baghdad yesterday, with one soldier killed in a rocket attack, overshadowing the ongoing sweep in search of those still loyal to Saddam Hussein’s ousted regime.

And a mortar shell slammed into a coalition-run humanitarian aid office north of Baghdad, killing an Iraqi and wounding 12 others, the latest of several attacks targeting Iraqis working with US forces.

One army medic was killed and two others were injured when their military ambulance was attacked with a rocket-propelled grenade south of Baghdad, a US military spokeswoman said.
